Before staring the museum I farmed at Domremy for about 35 years and at that time raised Bobcats, Canadian Lynx, Siberian Lynx, Wolverines etc. For many years I toured with the three types of cats to schools and eventually did film work. I had a Lynx in Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Movie - The Virigian, The Sun and the Hare-filmed at Kluane Lake, Yukon and did some Discovery Channel work.
I have always had a deep interest in our Mounted Police Force. The North West Mounted Police were assembled in 1873 at Fort Garry (Winnipeg) and came west in 1874. There was no law here at that time (only the Hudson Bay Co). Whiskey traders from the U.S. were trading whiskey to the natives for anything of value and at night when the natives were drunk they would sometimes kill them. There was a lot of warfare between the different tribes. Many original items from the NWMP are in our musuem (Saddles, guns, tunics, head wear, etc). Then the museum continues with Royal North West Mounted Police through to our modern day RCMP.
